Item Description

Silver was the primary ore metal in the famed Butte District in the 1870s to 90s, after the gold placers played out and before copper became King. However, silver specimens are quite RARE today. All sides of the banded quartz and sulfide matrix host crusts of hackly silver along with scattered tiny spinel-twins plus scattered golden pyrite. Very rich and rare Butte silver ore from an East Coast collection. Old-time material, undoubtably before World War I, but no proof. A MUST for the locality or species collector. 122 grams mass.
