Item Description

From an old stash of these East German classics, put together during the days when the Soviets mined the place, this is an unusually large and showy silver specimen! The Pohla silvers are known for their extremely photogenic herringbone-like crystallization (dendritic growth), which you see here in all its intricate beauty. The silver is embedded in and flowering out from massive matrix of silver and arsenic ore. This piece has a huge display face, just covered with good quality silver of a style that made this one of the more famous silver localities for collectors for many years. Today, they are hard to obtain. Complete coverage is present on THREE rotational display SIDES, by the way, although the front is crystallized more nicely. To emphasize the size of this 6-inch-tall specimen, let me say it weighs in at 4 pounds of solid silver and arsenic ore....its a big and hefty piece, of imposing display quality! Ex Victor Yount dealer stock, valued at $4000 (was $5500 on his original label). This is old material, not mined in this quality recently, and especially hard to find in such a good size!
