This mystery rock box is the perfect gift for anyone interested in geology and minerals. Packed with two pounds of beautiful rocks, this box comes with a variety of different mineral specimens. Mineral specimens may include high grade gold ore, crystals, silver ore, quartz, iron, azurite/copper, manganese, calaverite, and several more samples from the Tincup mining district of Colorado.


All Colorado Rock Shop inventory is procured from our historic patented gold mine near Gunnison, Colorado - one of the richest gold districts in the nation. Our mine was called "the mother vein of the mountain" and was first opened in 1881 by the famous Porcupine Group, who owned most of the mining rights in the area.

By 1884, our tunnel was 265 feet long with a 27 foot shaft, and a 25 foot adit. Inside was discovered hanging walls of granite gangue, quartzite, native and gray copper, native silver and gold, and gold tellurides. Our main vein is 39 1/2 feet wide between walls of granite and quartzite.
