This is a very variable and changeable mushroom depending on the weather conditions and its age. The cap can be red, orange, salmon pink, whitish or brown. The gills are deep and broad, and again vary in colour like the cap. The spores are white.
Very common and widespread throughout Britain.

Where to see it
Usually found in large troops in woodland, often along rides, or on heaths.
